Look beyond the motif. Compare the clear opening, bar spacing, kick-panel height, hinge construction, threshold condition, lock rail, removable glass or screen access, and the amount of daylight that remains when the main entry door is open. The installer should receive the approved opening dimensions and configuration before arriving. That allows the fastening surface, anchors, sealant, shims and any required trim work to be planned instead of improvised after the door is unpacked.

Inspect coating at welds, corners and hardware cutouts; wash salts and airborne grime from exterior surfaces; clear weep paths; and address chips promptly. Adjust hinges and strikes as soon as a heavy leaf begins rubbing rather than forcing the latch. Keep the final order record with the home files. It should identify the opening, finished size, swing, finish, hardware and glass or screen arrangement so future service does not depend on recognizing a product from appearance alone.

Do not assume a heavy-looking door is secure simply because it is iron. Security depends on frame attachment, hinge protection, lock preparation and the relationship between the active leaf and the surrounding structure. Before approval, read the quote line by line and compare it with the opening photos. A corrected dimension or hinge side at that stage is simple; discovering the mismatch after an opening-specific assembly is complete is not.
