Custom Doors And Windows

Custom doors and windows ordered separately almost never match. Two suppliers means two finish systems, two grain selections and two delivery dates, and the difference is visible on an elevation where a door and the windows either side of it sit in the same field of view.

Ordering custom made windows and doors together solves a matching problem before it becomes a site problem.

Why matching is harder than it sounds

Two manufacturers spraying to the same color code will not produce the same door and window. Sheen, substrate and spray schedule all shift the result, and a bronze door against bronze windows from another shop reads as two different bronzes in daylight.

Grain is worse. A stained oak door beside stained oak windows from a different mill will differ in cut and color, and there is no correcting it afterward.

How we handle it

Doors are built here. Window units are built to our specification by a manufacturing partner and finished in our shop, in the same booth, in the same run, from the same batch. That is the only way the color genuinely matches rather than approximately matches.

One order, one delivery

Custom built windows and doors ship as a single consignment with one ship week, tagged by opening. Coordinating two suppliers into one install week is a job somebody has to do, and it is easier for us to do it than for you to do it from a job site.

Where this makes the most difference

Full elevation replacements, additions that have to match an existing house, and any project where a patio door sits in a run of windows. On a single door replacement, matching is rarely worth the coordination.
